Major Petfleet Projects for September (Fall)
In September, STARFLEET Petfleet made significant progress on two major initiatives. The first project involved expanding our website from a single-page format to a comprehensive, multipage site. We’ve completed around 17 pages of the planned 30+ pages, with key sections like Events, Awards, Resources, and Contact mostly finished now. This new website will provide members with easy access to all STARFLEET Petfleet information, activities, and documentation. We’re aiming for a full launch by early November, but there’s still a lot of work ahead. We’ve budgeted $120-$250 for development costs and requested support from STARFLEET International (SFI) back in the spring, for hosting and funding.

The second major focus was developing STARFLEET Petfleet-branded products for the SFI Quartermaster shop. We’re working on launching a Petfleet patch, a collectable coin, and Comm Badge inserts as part of this effort. These products will commemorate Petfleet’s 20th anniversary and help raise funds for future projects. We’ve requested seed funding from STARFLEET to cover initial production costs, and once the products are available for purchase, the proceeds will be reinvested to support more Petfleet initiatives. External quotes for the patch and coin have already been received, and we’re currently awaiting further details from the STARFLEET Quartermaster on supplier options. In the long term, our goal is for STARFLEET Petfleet to become self-sustaining when it comes to creating and selling collectable products. This would enable us to fund future challenge awards for members, establish annual Petfleet awards, and, eventually, make donations to animal shelters or other pet-related charities, as decided by our membership. We’re excited about the potential of these projects to create lasting impacts within both our community and beyond.
The Conqueror Virtual Challenge / Petfleet Walking Challenge
Fall is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy a walk with your pet, and our STARFLEET Petfleet Walking Challenge is still in full swing! Whether you’re strolling through colourful autumn leaves or exploring new trails, now is the time to get those steps in. Many Auxiliaries, Regions, and Chapters are running their own walking challenges for members, so don’t forget that your walking distances can also be submitted to the STARFLEET Petfleet Walking Challenge. It’s a great way to keep yourself and your pet active while joining in on some friendly competition.
In even more exciting news, The Conqueror Virtual Challenge has just launched a special series of Star Trek-themed walking challenges, featuring six collectible medals! Our very own Operations Events Coordinator, Mary Demiter, has organized a STARFLEET Community Group
to help members participate in this exciting event together. With this group, you’ll be able to see other STARFLEET members trekking alongside you in real time on the app’s interactive map. You can start at any time, and there’s no time limit to complete the challenges, so why not join in
the fun?
The medals are beautifully designed and a great way to track your steps while working towards your fitness goals. To join the STARFLEET group, use the code SFIMEMA013 and the password “trekking.” Don’t forget to submit your steps to the STARFLEET step challenges at the end of each month and check in with your Region to see if they’re running a step challenge too.
Let’s get moving and make this fall a season of health, fitness, and Star Trek adventures!

Petfleet Photo Contest – Rainbow Bridge
In September, STARFLEET Petfleet celebrated pets from our past with the always-popular Rainbow Bridge Photo Contest. We honoured the memory of beloved pets who brought joy to our lives, and every pet entered was a winner for having been part of such caring families.
Congratulations to our August
- 2024 winners:
1st place went to David Kaczur & Kita, - with Honourable Mentions for Marissa Jeffrey & Sarabi,
- and Constance Ruth Fleming & Kaitlyn.
Thank you to everyone who shared their cherished memories—it’s always heartwarming to see so much love for our pets.
Our next contest was launched at the end of September and featured “Pet Twins”. Photos of STARFLEET members and their pets that look alike.
Our Director had a little fun with this one.
