STARFLEET Sciences – Stamets the Tardigrade
Featuring: Stamets, the Tardigrade By CAPT Pam Kingsley - SFSCI Deputy Director
SFSCI’s Tardigrade Mascot Stamets has been getting out and about over the past few months. He met some cadets at the start of the summer, who invited him to go on a fossil hunt with them. He was a bit surprised to come face to face with a dinosaur during the dig, but hey, he’s a tardigrade, he can handle mass extinctions – dinosaurs are no big deal!
In July he joined R20 at the Destination convention in the UK, where he found some furry new friends. Some very interesting characters came by the SFI stand, including someone calling himself “Robert O’Reilly”, but who Stamets’ new friends assured him was a Klingon.
Later on an android stopped by and gave Stamets a present, but when he was trying to figure out what it was, he got two of his little legs stuck and needed to be rescued by the Deputy Director CPT Pam Kingsley.
After saying goodbye to his tribble friends, Stamets hopped onto a shuttle and headed across the pond to visit SFSCI’s Director, FCAPT Barb Barton, who has been off on sick leave. Stamets made sure to give her a quick cuddle and make sure she was being well looked after before boarding his shuttle again and heading off in search of more adventures…
