Major Projects and Efforts
In October, Petfleet made substantial strides with several pivotal projects designed to enhance operational efficiency and improve member interaction. Below are the key initiatives undertaken:
1. Website Development and Launch
The highlight of October was the successful launch of the new STARFLEET Petfleet website. This comprehensive resource is aimed at improving the member experience with easy access to key information.
- Content: Over 100 pages, featuring historical archives, registration forms, events & activities, awards, news & resources (including all upcoming newsletter articles), and sections like “About,” “Contact,” and “FAQ.”
- Launch Event: To celebrate the website’s release, a fun scavenger hunt event was held, encouraging members to explore the site through a search for hidden Delta Paw icons, with prizes for winners.
- Newsletter Tie-In: The launch coincided with the release of the quarterly newsletter, reinforcing our commitment to keeping the community informed.
2. Quartermaster Products
The Quartermaster shop saw its first wave of new product designs ordered, including:
- 20th Anniversary Collectible Coin
- 3″ Sew-On Patch
- Other Merchandise Items
The expected availability for these new products is by mid-December.
3. Quarterly Newsletter
The quarterly newsletter was successfully published on November 1st. This publication continues to be a vital communication tool, providing updates and engaging content for our members.
Issues and Challenges
October presented several challenges that required prompt attention and resolution:
- Simultaneous Launch of Website and Newsletter: Coordinating the timing of both initiatives was a significant task, but the process was completed smoothly.
- Funding Delays: We encountered a delay in receiving the full $1,600 of our seed funding from SFI, impacting certain budgeted activities.
- Technical Issues with Gravity Forms: We identified a technical issue with Gravity Forms on the website, which is still a work in progress for resolution.
- Regional Liaison Replacement: A Regional Liaison had to be replaced due to inability to fulfill their duties.
Resources Needed
To further expand and improve Petfleet’s operations, we are actively seeking additional resources in the following areas:
- Regional Liaisons: More Regional Liaisons are needed to fill unrepresented areas and support outreach efforts.
- Technical Support: Assistance is required to resolve the ongoing issue with Gravity Forms.
- Funding: Securing the remainder of the seed funding will be crucial for fulfilling product orders and expanding member offerings.
- Premium Plugin Purchase: We are evaluating the purchase of a Google Sheet Connector Plugin, which could benefit Petfleet as well as other SFI areas such as the Marines.
Accomplishments
October was a month of significant milestones for Petfleet:
- Website Launch: Successfully launched the new STARFLEET Petfleet website, a project over six months in the making.
- Engagement through Scavenger Hunt: The interactive scavenger hunt helped engage members and introduced them to the website’s new features.
- Newsletter Publication: Another successful edition of the quarterly newsletter, providing vital updates to the community.
- Quartermaster Products: Initial orders for merchandise, including the collectible coin and sew-on patch, were completed, marking the expansion of our product offerings for members.
Conclusion
October was a highly productive month for Petfleet, with several key initiatives successfully launched and ongoing challenges addressed. As we look ahead, we will continue to focus on enhancing member engagement, expanding our resources, and resolving the few outstanding issues from October.
