Pet ranks can be given as an honorary title but will not be recognized by SFI as an official rank or count toward chapter membership numbers or member status.

To follow military and uniformed service tradition, we recommend the pet’s rank should be one higher than that of its handler to symbolize a partnership, working as equals out of mutual respect. (Example: Handler is an Ensign the pet’s rank will be SFPet Lieutenant Junior Grade, or if the handler’s rank is Commodore, the pet’s rank will be SFPet Rear Admiral).

For SFMC ranks, the equivalent may be used for pets (Example: SFPet-Captain is equivalent to SFPet-Colonel).
