Greetings Petfleet Crew,
August was full of wagging tails, whiskers, and some exciting updates for our Auxiliary! Here’s what we accomplished together this month:
Welcome Aboard: Chief of Communications
On August 20th, we officially welcomed ENS JG Maude Tanguay as our new Chief of Communications. Maude brings a strong background in marketing, web development, and social media, and she’s already started working with our admin team to keep our messaging clear and engaging.
She’ll be helping manage social media posts, website content, and newsletter contributions while making sure Petfleet maintains one unified voice. Maude introduced herself with a personal log featuring her three feline crewmates, Tiberius, Spock, and Slippers, and she’s already jumping into projects.
Welcome aboard, Maude, from the entire STARFLEET Petfleet team!
Handbook Update
Captain Matthew Doucet updated the STARFLEET Petfleet Handbook this month. The changes included the addition of our new Chief of Communications role and updates to the Command Staff list and flow chart. This ensures everything stays aligned with our growing structure.

Department Updates
- Member Services: Captain Mary Demiter is now leading this department, supported by Commodore Jess Odel and Lt Jessica Sommer. Jessica was on leave for most of August but will remain assisting in her role.
- Liaison News: We welcomed COL Christopher Good from the USS Hope (Region 11) as our newest Regional Liaison.

Website Forms Issue Resolved
A technical issue affecting Petfleet website forms, including registrations, was identified this month. Thanks to Fleet Captain Randy Mitson, the problem has been resolved, and all pending registrations have now been processed.
Activities & Celebrations
Name Game: Captain Mary Demiter hosted a playful challenge where members posted pet photos with hints to their names, inviting everyone to guess. It brought lots of creativity and laughs.
National Dog Day (Aug 26): Members shared photos and fun starship “ranks” for their pups, from Captains of Cuddles to Ensign Zoomies. The feed was filled with wagging tails and happy faces.
Photo Contest Winners: We celebrated the winners of July’s Best in Class contest across all categories—dogs, cats, other pets, and Rainbow Bridge tributes. Congratulations again to all participants and thank you to our judges.
Thank you to all who participated in our annual fleet-wide photo contest and to our judges David Nottage, Ryan Case, and Fran Moritz-Booth.

Ongoing Projects
- Work continues on launching our next Academy course: COVM 103 The Informed Small Pet Owner, expected later this quarter.
- Our Quartermaster products continue to be available to members, including the 20th Anniversary Challenge Coin, Delta Paw Comm Badge, stickers, magnets, and more.
- We also launched our new Star Trek Collars by My Lola Bear, custom-designed in Star Trek colours with rank pips for your pets.
